John Atkinson

 

 

John had his own design studio in London for 37 years.  In 2003,  John decided to leave London and to concentrate 
full time on painting and has subsequently been exploring techniques in painting and drawing.  In 2004 and 2005 
he won the SAA Artist of the Year for best Waterscape, Boats and Landscape Category.  John has contributed 
work to four of the ³How did you paint that² book series published by International Artist Magazine.  Towards the 
end of 2004 a tongue in cheek drawing of Tony Blair on a 50 euro note called  ³President Blair² was accepted by 
the Orleans House Gallery,  Twickenham for their exhibition entitled  ³Drawing the Line².

For the last three years, his paintings have been shown at  40 x 40 - Contemporary British Art, The Millinery 
Works Gallery, London.  He has also exhibited in York, Southwold, The Business Design Centre and the 
Coton Exchange in London and had a drawing accepted by the Society of Graphic Fine Art in London.

In September 2006 John won the Eastern Daily Press East Anglian Artist competition.  In Spring 2007 he 
held a solo exhibition in Holt and will be exhibiting at Gallery 19, St Martin de Re,  France later in the summer. 
His paintings  are also on display at  St. Giles House Hotel in Norwich, Smith & Wareham in Bury St Edmunds 
and The Burston Crown in Burston, Norfolk.
