Jacqui Petrie - Re cent Exhibitions

Jacqui is inspired by the great outdoors, by atmospheric light over huge vistas of places she's been to and also
the repeating patterns of things seen intimately closer. Her work is based on recognisable natural forms which
usually have an autobiographical significance and celebrate a feeling, a time or a place.

Jacqui has worked from, lived in and loved the Norfolk landscape for the last 25 years. Turning fifty, having
studio space and producing work she felt pleased with were factors that all came together at the same time.

Messy charcoal and sloppy watercolours are the mediums she enjoys; layers of marks are applied, rubbed and
reworked until the desired effect is achieved. She adores the drama of black and white as well as strong colour

Currently Jacqui is working on a series of photographs, drawings and paintings from naturally occurring phenomena
of spirals and patterns formed in frozen puddles. Some of these were exhibited as part of “Watch What’s Under
Your Feet” at the Norwich Fringe. They are so amazing they would be incredible without the verification of the

photographic evidence
